I miss riding, I have been a sporadic, somewhat fair weather commuter for awhile now. This summer while on vacation I broke my right wrist and left foot and now I CAN'T ride! Now I realize just how much I love to ride! My doctor thinks my foot will take another month to heal and the external fixator on my wrist may come off in two weeks. I really hope I can start riding again by the end of August... My goal is become a full-time commuter now -I live in FL so no snow, rarely freezes at all -so no excuse for not riding year-round. My commute is only 7.5 miles again no excuse - over the years I have found a couple routes with mostly residential traffic - again no excuse for not riding. Thanks for letting me share my woes.

My wife caught the cycling bug this spring and really got into it. We'd go out most evenings and do 10-15 miles. Then she bruised her Achilles tendon and had to be off the bike a few weeks. It drover her nuts, especially when I'd go out for a ride myself. She started riding again, but now she's in Orlando for the last two weeks taking some training classes, so again, no riding. She gets back tomorrow night and we plan to lead a breakfast ride on Saturday morning. She can't wait.

But yeah, she feels your pain.

When my commute was about 7 miles I commuted by bike most of the time. It's a good distance.

Slim -- I have 2 bikes set up for commuting -- Trek SU100 and Schwin fastback - both have rear racks for pannier bag -the trek is MTb hybrid style with 26" tires and straight handlebar -Schwin is road bike with dropped Handlebars I have never attempted single-spd but I have seen other riders with SS bikes.

I miss it. Haven't ridden to work in a year, since I got hit by a car. I'm physically capable now, just my wife won't let me. That's even more frustrating than not being able to.

I have asked my family and they have said yes they will be nervous when I get back on the road but it was I love to do. I feel like I am completely going to flab now. I need to quit snacking so much and find a way to do some exercises even with the limited mobility.
