Commuting - Saw 2 other commuters this morning!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That's 2 more than I usually see in months, the break in the heat must have brought them out. What a nice change of pace.
In Chicago? I was just visiting my brother in Wilmette a few weeks back and can't believe how many bikes and bike paths are around. There must have been over 100 bikes at the train station so at least people are commuting to the train. I guess that isn't actually commuting in Chicago though.

I know that there are more than two other Chicago area commuters that post regularly here on BF. I figured that there were tons of you guys over there.

there's a big difference between the city of chicago and the VAST, VAST swath of nearly unending suburbia surrounding it known as chicagoland.
i bike commute everyday in the city proper and i see hundreds, if not thousands, of other bike commuters on nice summer days. there's a precipitous drop-off in january ;)

In the Bay Area, there are almost too many commuters to see! :D

I'm out of the city and commute during off hours, and I rarely see someone commuting. It was good to see some other commuters today.

I never realized you were Bay Area too! My office has quite a few commuters too, all the bike lockers are full. Dont recall seeing as many people on bikes as I see lockers though :)

Started out cycle-commuting in the winter of '87 in Chicago. Lived at Western/Peterson and would take McCormick up to Dempster/Skokie everyday. Worked at Rand-McNally. Then I'd take Lincoln to Amitage to the Old Town School of Folk Music where I taught voice, guitar and mandolin. There was no 3 ft rule or bike lanes in those days. Everyman for himself...:p Might see another cyclist very 2 weeks are so. Had a blast! Trial and error. My front light was an old Cateye that took 2 c-cell batteries and lasted about 2 weeks before changing them out. Kept falling off the mount until I duct taped it.
Seemed much more subversive, somehow in those days. I went everywhere on that bike and some rasta guys at a regge bar got me really drunk and dared
'dee wite boy' to ride my bike home. I did it, though it's not something I'd recommend. :) Earned much respect form the regulars when I showed up the next night.
I have started regularly seeing two commuters on my route to work AND someone else at my office has started commuting off and on AND another coworker is planning to start soon.
