Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Goodbye

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just dropped by BF after a few months away to see what's happening in the C&V, 50+ and Ultra-distance forums. I couldn't do ANYTHING with out a Walmart "Summer to remember" popup in my face. I won't be back.

This is not a Bike Forums ad. If you get a popup ad, can you please send a screen shot to Tom Stormcrowe?

There is a banner ad on here that launches a full screen popup on you when your mouse touches any part of the ad... I've only seen a couple times but did today.

When it happens, please get me a screenshot so I can have traffic pull that ad. We don't allow them, but don't always have preapproval on context ads served up by Google and other services, so we have to pull them when they do appear. To do that, we have to have the image so we can have the adserver pull that ad out of our rotation.

This isn't the one I was talking about but came across this one today... if your mouse touches any part of the banner it flares up a popup... I added screenshots of the banner and popup.

I may be new here, but I have never seen any of these popup ads. Maybe its because I use Firefox with adblock? I didn't even know this site had popup ads.

They aren't actually popups but flash ads. Not sure if FF blocks those or not. I use Google Chrome. I wasn't seeing them that often...

I'm not leaving BF over it, but I'm going to make a conscious effort to boycott all CocaCola products. (Click here for a list of all Coca-Cola products. (http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/brands/brandlist.html))
I was already boycotting Walmart, so I guess now I'll just have to start hiding their refrigerable products (do they have fish?) behind their shelved products (like cereal.) :p

More again today...

The Gordon Chevy one was just downright nasty! It wouldn't let me scroll to the right to close it out and I had to close my browser and re-open it...
I guess if you want people to upgrade to the premium membership having ads like this is one way to do it.
