Mrs. Pumper posted a couple of days ago about me surprising her with a new jersey. A few asked for pictures, so I thought while I was snapping pics anyway, I would take a few of the modifications that I have done to her bike. I'm hoping it might be helpful to others to see what can be done to a bike to make it work better for them.

Here is Mrs. Pumper in her full new kit. A Rosie the riveter jersey, along with new gloves, shorts and wrap around glasses. All matching of course.

And a back shot of Rosie.

First mod was a women's specific Terry Butterfly saddle

Then we added this shortened, higher angle stem. It gave her a more upright position, which she likes.

Next, I put on these HED C2 wheels and Michelin Pro Optimum 25C tires. The wheels are wider then standard and with the bigger 25C tire really help soften the chip seal roads around here.

Mrs. Pumper does not want to go clipless yet, so I put on these platform pedals that have SPD clips on one side if she decides to use them.

Not really a modification, but matching water bottles were a must I was informed.

Lastly, Mrs. Pumper has a bone spur on one foot, which means she can't have shoes cover the the top of it. I found these biking sandals that give her a stiffer shoe, plus the option for SPD's later.

Matching makes you go faster. It's a fact.

I have those same platform/clipless pedals on my road bike - they're very nice, and I never have any trouble getting the side I want up. I originally got them because the roadie was my only bike, and I didn't want to have to clip in for short jaunts. But now I think I'll keep them on because it's a vintage bike and they just look nice on it.

Very nice mods! I just added the same rims to my bike this wekend. I love them so far. The wider profile/lower pressure does indeed make for a softer ride.

The jersey is made by Retro Image Apparel. I bought the last one from the place that I got it. It looks like their website has them available in XXL only, or eBay has them in smaller sizes.

XXL...are these women's cut?

They are listed as a women's jersey, so I assume so.
