Hey
I have this Mtn Bike Frameset that I am thinking of building up, it is made By American Bike M... (ABM)and the model is a Comp Lite. I think it was built in 1989.. and constructed on Aluminum.

So.. Does anyone know further info about this frameset? Was it a decent bike?

As you know the frame was manufactured by American Bicycle Manufacturing in St Cloud , Minnesota. In the 80's ABM built some of the best frames that could be had. They were very expensive but worth it! The Comp Lite was probably their most popular model (Others were the American Breezer, M-16, Comp Lite, American, etc). The frames came with Koski forks. ABM also produced excellent aluminum stems and built tandems for Angel & Rodriguez. Probably their coolest frame was one that had large holes cut out of the main triangle's tubes. I had the opportunity to ride one at the plant and the looks and performance were outstanding.

I owned an American and still ride an American Breezer. Your Comp Lite is certainly worth building up. The frame is light; its small diameter, thick wall tubing provides a great ride; and its geometry & dimensions are perfect for trail riding. I still have some of the company's brochures so if you need more info let me know. Good luck with your project!
