When looking at track pedals i noticed that one side of the cage(the side the toe clip doesn't go on) seems higher. Recently i found out that there are shows with slots cut in them for this. My question is can one ride these pedals comfortably without these "track shoes"? I know of a place that has several used sets but i wont get them if i cant ride them comfortably, and i'm not going to buy track shoes.

you're talking about riding in street/skate shoes with no cleats, right?
i've had no problems with that setup.
