Hmm..well im a bmxer but i commute to college on my mountain bike and in the summer i like to go cycling for the day round the countryside. You know the drill...go for a nice long cycle, eat 2 kg of chocolate somewhere scenic, sleep in the sun for 2 hours then cycle home??? :-)

So my question is:

Which part of your foot should be on the pedal? Is there any recommended part of your foot which should be on the pedals so that you get maximum force and minimum damage to foot??

Just interested......

Cheers
L:-)

I've always understood that the pedal axle should be under the ball of the foot.

Its hard to keep the ball of the foot over the axle without some guidance.
For casual riding, a set of toe clips can make life much easier. They keep your feet in the correct position anbd you can still use your pedals and shoes.
Toe clips come in small/m/l and are available as mini-clips without the straps if these put you off.

Clipless pedals use the same position but , being more efficient, will enable you to reach your favoured chocolate consumption area more quickly.
