I hate the original, although I can't really explain why. However, if anyone can pull off Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it's Tim Burton. I'm sure I'll watch it after it comes out on DVD.
On a sadder note, Disney is planning a remake of Tron. No way they'll pull it off.
I'm a big fan of the original I can't wait to see the new version
Tron I'm not so sure about the crappy SFX were what MADE that movie

omg this movie looks dumb..........they are totaly going to torch what little entertainment value willy wanka ever had in the first place
Yeah, I heard the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory hated the original Willie Wonka movie. I think Tim Burton's movie all seem the same though.. I'm not a big fan.

I too am a big fn of the original. Will there be singing in this one? lol
It will be great to see what Tim Burton comes up with, can anyone match Gene Wilder as Willie? That remains to be seen. Please tell me it's not Jim Carrey in the new one!
(I love Jim Carrey, but he tends to dominate which isn't right here, seems to me)

Its Johnny Depp. I usually hate the idea of remaking films that were done right the first time but when I heard it was Tim Burton and Johnny Depp taking a whack at it, I was somehow put at ease. Its a reimagining instead of a rehashing of the old one, and I'm alright with that.
So this is like part 2? Charlie's inherited the factory, grown up, and he's looking for another kid to replace him to run the factory?
I guess whoever runs the factory ends up turning into a nut, then the nut replaces himself with a good kid who goes nuts from running the place and then the next movie comes out?
I'm just wondering.

No, its the same story just a different spin on it methinks, though I think I like your idea better.

B/c thats where the HQ trailer is, I dont hate the company, just the super over-priced fad pods.

So why is it called "Charlie and the Chocolate Facotry" then? I know you all haven't seen it, but what's the emphasis about? Why the shift from Willy Wonka to Charlie?
I think I like my angle too.... actually, it's given me some ideas on something I've been working on. ;)

You had a good angle. It is "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" because that is the name of the book Willy Wonka was based on..
Do you think that Burton and Depp will dust off the Edward Scissorhands costumes for Willy? That might make for a bit more interesting effect.
That Was Johnny Depp in that CLIP, WTF!
he ****ing scrares me, i think that they will butcher the old one, and come on you guiys at one time loved that movie, I know it! ;)

Tim Burton reimagined Planet of the Apes right into the dumper.
I like both Burton and Depp. They bnng a certain skewed sensibility to their work. Each of them is capable of genius, but when they fall short it is usually painful to watch.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was a work of warped genius. We'll have to see what Tim and Johnny do to it.

I think it looks pretty good. From the trailer, I would go see it. I have to agree with regularguy (is regular because he's regular or is he regular because he gets lots of fiber?) that Burton and Depp both possess a warped sense about them and shoudl make the movie interesting.
