I have a stock 2011 Jamis Ventura sport http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebikes/road/ventura/11_venturasport_spec.html
And my old bike has rx100 components as well as rsx shifters and I was wondering if you think it would be worth while to get the components from my old bike shifted to my jamis?
Im not sure if what is stocked on the jamis is bettet then the rs100 and rsx. I want to start racing and will be buying a new bike next year I just want to make any improvement to my jamis right now if I should. Also about how much does the average bike shop charge to change over components.

Waste of money, to spend $$ to remove 1 year old SORA and replace with 10 to 15 year old group that was at the SORA level (RSX) or one step above (RX100). And then you have the personal question, is entry level now better performing than entry level 10 to 15 years ago? One would hope that Shimano has made a myriad of improvements over that time.
Also will be pretty expensive to do the swap. And you will either end up with an unsellable bike (the old bike), or have to spend even more to install the SORA pieces onto the old bike. This is getting really expensive.
Save the $$, sell the old bike, and use the funds to help pay for the next bike.
Just checked your bike specs, your current shifters are a step below SORA, I still would not do it.
Major part swapping, as you envision, is really best suited for someone with the tools/time/aptitude to do all the work themselves. At that point, you are just using time, and a few $$ on consumables (cables and housings). I make swaps all the time where if I paid someone to do it, would make zero sense financially. My 1987 Prologue is on its fourth drivetrain in three years, and I am getting ready for its next change. Logical? Makes any financial sense? No....

RX100 is/was decent stuff but swapping doesn't make any sense. Race your Jamis, and change stuff if/when it starts to hold you back.
Folks who can do the work themselves would hardly bother... prolly a different story if you were talking 105 or better, but it's still mostly a matter of how you feel about the bike than about how the bike feels.
The cheaper stuff is a bit heavier and won't last as long. Mostly, it just doesn't look as good, and tends to start looking ratty sooner.
Use it till it's thrashed, learn to wrench, or spend a bunch of cash for not much return.
Thanks for all your help. Basically I just want to have the best bike I can. The shifting has been very shaky.. I dk if it needs a tune up but it shifts in and out of gears at times. I need to shift over twice to actually get it into gear. No sure if thats because of the shifters. Ive done less the 200 miles on the bike and the chain has fallen off three times
Chain falling off: check derailleur limit screws.
Dodgy shifting: maybe just poor index adjustment, more likely excess cable friction - check housings for damage or bad length, which causes too many bends. Be sure to allow full range of motion when shortening.
The bike just hasn't been set up properly; it's not the gear's fault.
