I am not sure which bike to buy on ebay?

According to bikepedia.com the Trek 1200 should have Shimano RX100 groupset but the pics show 105 groupset. The Trek 330 has suntour groupset.
The price is the same as I can opt for local pick up for the trek 1200 saving the shipping costs.
Which one is the better bike? Aluminum or steel? Trek 1200 or Trek 330?
Thanks.

41.
Buy the one you think will fit the best. If thats all equal buy the prettier one. Material doesn't make that much of a difference at that level.

1200 is stiffer and has a shorter wheelbase, but has that stupid stub stem and nazzty saddle on there, even though the 330 has a nasty saddle too but at least the stem is reasonable.
Actually, I'd try C&V for this query. Most of 41 would call any bike with less than 9 cogs nearly worthless.
The one not sporting Suntour.

I was looking at the stem also and found it rather odd. How difficult would it be to find a replacement stem? Not sure what C&V is though, new to the forum and been out of cycling for a long time.
Thanks for the advice.

Replacement stems are still fairly easy to come by. 1" quill and likely 26mm clamp. Origin8 for a little dough, Nitto for a little more dough, among others.
C&V= Classic and Vintage. The 181!
