I am looking for info on rebuilding a Fox Alps 4 rear shock, or something similar. The actual shock in question is a Risse Racing replacement for a Fox Alps 4.
I noticed yesterday that shock on my bike has about 1/4 of freeplay when it is fully extended. Its been slowly leaking oil for the last few months and I think its finally out. I can get it rebuilt for about $85 plus shipping, but I am pretty sure that I can do it myself, or at least add some oil until I can get the $$$ together to have it rebuilt. At this point it holds air fine, and is still usable, but definitely not correct.
Even if someone can give me an idea of what weight oil to use, that would be helpful.
Thanks!
