Hi,

I'm a 64 y.o. who's been biking for a few 24 hrs. I rode a road bike for years until my lower back didn't like it--yea for physical therapists!--then rode recumbents for years until it just seemed too difficult. Anyway, I'm wanting to buy a more upright bike and am thinking about a flat-barred(?) road bike, specifically a Trek FX 7.2 or 7.3.

I have a couple of questions--
Is there an equivalent bike of another brand?
I think I'm pretty set on the 7.3 but is there anyone familiar with the two Treks to have an opinion about the differences?
Anyone want to buy my Bachetta Cafe?

\Thanks for any help!

Hello Don,

Welcome to Bike Forums from Texas.

I started road riding when I was 65 years old with two herniated discs, and as a Type 2 dibetic.

Many of us have found that the forward lean on a road bike is good for our old backs.

The up right sitting position is not.

The bike you choose is your choice.

Have fun with it and hope you have many happy miles.

Hi Don,
Check in with Classic and Vintage Forum on occassion. I am planning to convert an old Raleigh Record to a flatbar bike. I,ve hade the bike for a while but neck and shoulder strain prevents me from going longer distances. I do 30 to 50 miles easily on my hybrid and even 25 miles on my folder.
The good news is it can always be changed back.
