I am looking to add my 2nd bike and have narrowed it down to 2 internal 8 speed bikes - Motobecane Cafe Express 8 or a Nashbar Steel Commuter. Both look like great bikes (and are considerably lower priced than the Trek Soho version). Which would be the better choice - Motobecane or Nashbar? Thanks!

I can't really help with insight into quality of frame or components, as I've recently been reintroduced to biking and am woefully ignorant about most of the specifics. However, they look to me to both be well made and with decent components, but with different purposes in mind. The Nashbar looks more like the typical commuter/street bike of my youth while the Motobecane looks more like a current Hybrid designed more ruggedly for street and where there's a small chance of some light offroad activity. If it were me, already owning a Hybrid, and having little use for a full fledged mountain bike, I'd opt for the Nashbar. I've seen that bike on their website and if I could justify another $400 bike, I'd get it myself.
