my cables make noise, Ive greased the heck out of them to no avail.. new ones, new housings, everything.. no luck.. the noise seems to be coming from the cable bosses in the front of the top tube next to the head tube.. (where the housings stop at).
anyone have any ideas???
Thanks!!

What kind of noise? squeeking? creaking? pinging?
Noisy cables? I have heard of screaming trees, but this is a new one for me.
Hats off to Spud Monkey for one of the most bizarre bike mechanic threads in a long time!

its creaking.. right where the cable housings meet up with the frame. the housings move as your turn the bars and thats what causes the creaking... i was thinking about putting grease there but it will attract dirt.
The situation you describe is sure to have the cable rub the paint off of your frame.
Put a small piece of electrical tape on the frame at the point of contact. See if you can stabalize the cable better. A color-match electrical tie works for this.
