I stumbled across this forum while searching for bike maintenance tips. It looks like a good place!

My name is Scott. I live in Lancaster, PA. I have a 1978 Kia 10-speed that I bought used from a shop 6-7 years ago for $20. I've done nothing to it since then, but after watching the entertaining and educational "Silly Cyclists" series on Youtube, I got it in my head that I could commute to work.

So, I worked out a route, drove it home one day to check out traffic, and am currently training myself up to being able to ride it without passing out.

I'm a software developer at Lancaster Laboratories, am married, have a nice old Beagle named George, and I enjoy being outside, whether it's hiking, gardening, or riding my bike.

Are there any other Lancastrians on here?

Hello Scott,
Just saw your post and had to respond. I'm retired now and live in the High Desert area of California, But as a young lad back in the 50's, I used to ride my bike to Roherstown Elementary School there in Lancaster when we lived on Columbia Avenue. I am aware from another Lancastrian that there is a shopping center where my home was. But have lots of great memories of Lancaster, PA and my days as a youngster. My best to you and all the other good folks in a great town in PA.

Alex
