Cyclocross - Quick release brakes?

Do any of the canti brakes have a quick release on them? I put the tektro oryxx on my bike and have to deflate the tires or loosen the cable to get the tires out. Can you put an inline cable adjuster on the brakes? I see alot of the inline adjusters, but not all say not to use on brakes.

The barrel end of the crossover cable should be detachable from that end of the caliper.
the side opposite of the fixing bolt one that clamps the bare wire.

because wide profile cantilevers let you run a bigger pad to rim gap
than the low profile type, there is more room/slack when you squeeze your pads together with your hand, to pull the end of the cable out..

using V brake shoes with the long tail extending inside the fork blade, on narrow forks,
may create a problem.
solution is to use a shorter brake shoe.

Shopping.. TRP EuroX and Avid Ultimate offer a barrel adjuster
that the ball end of the cross over cable fits thru, and so there is that convenient adjustment available..

Thanks for the reply. I must have them set alot closer than any that can remove the non-pinch side of the straddle cable. I was just curious, it should not be a problem for me as I carry a pump everywhere and probably won't remove my tires to travel anyhow.

Doing some google searching and I came up with an article I found interesting. What I was mainly curious about was how popular is the older style straddle wire, rather than the type like mine that run the actual brake cable through a triangle or whatever along with the other wire than down to the brake arm? My old road bikes use the straddle wire and I've never had a problem with them, although have read about if the front breaks you can do an endo if the straddle catches the tire. Not something that probably happens very often..but what accidents ever are?

Anyhoo, apparently I drank to many beers the other night when checking my brakes b/c I can unhook the cable when I push the arms together. So now that I have that sorted out, I'm thinking the tektro oryxx brakes are a pretty great bang for the buck. I felt they stopped great on my rides so far, much better than I had expected reading so many things previously about cross brakes not stopping very well. Maybe not in slop I suppose, but my roadie sucks when it's wet out too!

what levers are you using? I think the tektros/cane creeks have a release button near the hoods. Campys do too.

I think Tektro Oryx is a great brake. Even better with Kool Stop pads, and another nice tweak is to shorten the straddle cable for a bit more leverage.

Dropping the X-verse cable on the front tire is not a problem If you do Maintenance
and replace cables regularly..
besides Cross You are doing laps , and there are spectators,
and so even worse case there are people there to help pick you up,
call for the Medic and so forth..

I was just thinking this afternoon when it's time for pads koolstops will be going on, and just read about shortening the straddle too, although I have it set pretty low already. Which may be the reason they stop ( IMO ) so well already.

fietsbob - yes a spectacular tumble over the bars would be great for the crowd. I did mine last year while nobody where nobody was around. Lucky I didn't need any assistance picking myself off the ground :)
