A little bit about me: I'm a 64 year old woman who has casually biked most of my life. As a young child I would ride pretty much everywhere on my blue Schwinn. When I was in college I had a 3 speed British Green Raleigh and it was my main mode of transportation to classes and to work. When I lived in Japan for a couple of years, I bought a Fuji and it was my main form of transformation. After moving to Philadelphia, I bought a beautiful blue Somec road bike and rode it everywhere. Then I got too busy with work and actually too far away to commute (on the road a lot). So I gradually just quit biking as much. Didn't help that my husband really doesn't like being on a bike (believe me, I've tried). Never liked really long rides – 10 miles was about my top limit!

But now I'm basically retired and have a part time job only a couple of miles away! And they let me bring it in and store it inside while I'm at work. So I recently picked up a delightful woman's Felt Cafe 8 Deluxe (back to British Green). I love it and it is perfect for my short suburban commute. Plus I've been using it for all my local errands. Did I mention I love it !?!

Still undecided what to do with my Somec. It's a great bike with mainly Campy components. I think I got it around 1984 or so. I just don't see me using it much now.

I've already gleaned some great advice by lurking on the forum. So now I'm looking to participate more.
