an exciting weekend?

What happened? Debauchery, tomfoolery, drunken gibberish?

I played with a band at the Galax Fiddler's convention and placed 12th. With that placing, I've now placed in band at every convention I've been to (only took me several years to finally place at this one).

We went to see Big Ben, but a marathon got in the way. 90 seconds before the runners appeared a car pulled up and 5 police officers got out and jumped on a bloke and took him off to the side. Don't know what he did, but he got a great view of the runners, even if a few police officers were sitting on him.

We decided to get the tube to Tower Bridge instead, but those dasterdly marathoners gate crashed that too.

On the plus side, lots of lovely tourists and athletes mooching about London in their different teams colours, enjoying the sun, taking photos of each other, eating ice cream and generally having a marvelous time.

I went to the County Fair with my family. My daughter had a great time. It is the first time I had seen a pig race and duck race, which was a lot of fun :)

I took a red-eye flight from L.A. to Little Rock and arrived home at 11 am Saturday morning. Then I slept and later tried to figure out why the new update of Opera had disabled the Flash player. Sunday was spent fixing Opera, reading "Make Toons that Sell" by Bill Plympton, writing resumes and updating my portfolio.

In the competition, I was on guitar. I took my upright bass to this particular convention as well and played it a bit in jams out in the park.

Other than those, I play a bit of mandolin and tenor banjo. I can make semi-musical noise on other instruments, but won't claim proficiency.

Sweet mandolin!!! That's pretty cool.

And I miss the fair, I can't wait for it to come here.

Yes, yes, yes. It was great, then saturday morning it was bad, then it was suddenly great again, and now i'm sitting in the dark with gatorade.

I was biking around Madison, WI and wondering why it isn't the best biking city in the country (and I am from Minneapolis, which is sometimes called the best biking city, but Madison makes a lot more sense).

<3 the fair and kitteh pics!

I rode too much and even ran a mile and a half. Didn't sleep enough. No booze but I ate several bags of my new OCD food choice (http://www.fritolay.com/our-snacks/cheetos-crunchy-cheddar-jalapeno.html)...Paying for it all this morning.

I do like the hot ones but they are truly hot, for me anyway. The Jalapeno ones are slightly less ablaze but quite tastier imho. Sometimes I get both and mix them, a la Ed Hidle and his dadburned Cheezits.

I also found a salsa & queso variety of Cheetos the other day...not nearly as hot but not half bad.

Went to a bed & breakfast in Tyler, Texas, with my honey, where we celebrated our 28th anniversary. Very pleasant.

Baptism party for the former babysitter's youngest daughter... BBQ and nachos with a big Guatemalan family and some friends. Only a few toddlers around, so it was low-key. We were the only gringos there except for the girl's father. Nachos with jalapeno followed by a hot link. :thumb:

Ended up flying a cheap kite with our 2-year-old... he destroyed the string at the end, but we had a good time. First time I've flown a kite in years.

Also, I hit three out of three daddy-chores over the weekend-- a rare 100% completion ratio.
Put the new roof rack on the CR-V, got all of the yardwork done, and installed the new homemade magnetic chalkboard in the laundry room.

So, my rationalization that I lose a lot of salt while riding & sweating won't justify Cheetohs, huh?

We went for a road ride this weekend and on the way home riding through town some jerk in a POS car started harassing us. My SO got so pizzed at the cager that he ripped the grill and licence plate off the front of the car so he would be sure to have the plate number to call in to the police. I think the cop was secretly impressed by that.

It was pretty awesome! We are still laughing about it.
Might have to take this story to A&S.

It was a perfect weather weekend in these parts, the best we have had in two months. Got an early start Saturday and my wife, son and I hit the bike trail for about 14 miles. He started law school today so that might be the last family ride for a while, hopefully not . The wife wanted to go for another ride on Sunday at one of the local county parks plus I found out I lost two more pounds. This ride has a few more hills but, she did great even though by her own admission they were kicking her a$$. Next weekend is looking to be even better so we will be out again.

went out to a pizza resturant on Saturday with my wife, her sister and her sister's partner. I ate a large pizza all by myself. we then went home an dozed in a food coma. Sunday was rained out.

the weekend before was better: went and watched a building implode and later watched some mad buggers racing cyclocross in the mud.

Spent the weekend at the track watching motorcycle roadracing (wmrra.com). Saturday, I took my CBR around the track for about 20 mins, which is always a blast. No speed limits and a straight long enough to almost hit 150 if I get a good drive outta the last corner.

Sunday I was corner-working turn 9, best seat in the house. :D

So what do they put on pizzas in the .nz? And do they put the toppings on under the crust on the other side of the world?

I had a meatlovers. beef, pepperoni, bacon with a BBQ sauce. they put the toppings under the cheese only. My wife had a smoked salmon pizza.
