Hi, i'm obviously new the these forums and this is my first post. I've been looking for a bike for me and my girlfriend for some time now and this site provides lots of info through the forums! I look forward to furthering my bike education here and also to a purchase of two new bikes in the near future!

I've tested the specialized sirrus and a couple of giant models at a local LBS. I'm not swayed from an LBS but I've seen a couple of GT models (traffic 2.0 definitely for my gf that I like) and the tachyon 1.0 for purchase online - I've read pretty good things about the GT models. There a lots of other bikes that I have my eye on though. I'm definitely trying to keep the purchase price of each bike around 500ish. It seems all of the brands offer similar equipped bikes. I've been keeping my eyes peeled on craigslist as I keep doing research on these bikes!
