I drilled holes throughout my frame and am running 15/6 gearing. I also found that replacing my bike chain with a pull chain from a light switch works wonders. I switched over to balsa wood cranks and took the cages off my pedals...
I took out every other spoke on my 36 hole single wall rims and stripped the paint from the frame which saved a ton of weight - like 7 or 8 grams.

I cut my MacNeil seatpost so that only an inch is in the frame and the seat is only about half an inch high.

I ground my Bizhouse stem down some to save some weight as well and of course, don't run brakes at all as they would just slow me down.

The helium in the tire trick works awesome and really does a great job in keeping the bike lighter. I skid on my tires as soon as I get them to wear a lot of the extra rubber off them as well.

I use cloth tape instead of grips and my bars are cut to only 9 inches wide... no bar ends.

Hollow titanium 1/4" axles go a long way since I ride really smooth.

My bike weighs just over 12 pounds 3 ounces.

bmxtrix, i'd like to see pictures of this bike. i agree with josh, u are full of it. but u no what would suck, if u tried to actually ride that bike. and i hope thats a race bike u talkin about. 36 hole wheels is already border line for street riding. removing spokes from 36h's is just rediculus.

Mine bike is 47 pounds and all I do to save weight is cut my seat post, which I only did because I was bored. As long as were all talking about weight, how come everything in danscomp has the weight shown(even spoke nipples and other small crap) But they never list the sprocket weights? Not that I am looking for a light weight sprocket or anything(if I wanted light parts would I realy be running a Whipperman chain?). jw

You must like heavy bikes, I mean you actually keep your seat/seat post on???? I don't even ride with one, you don't even have to sit down when you ride realy. My personal preferance is to not ride with a sprocket, chain or freewheel pedalings to much work, it's a lot easier just to glide every where.

i agree, bearings in the headset and other parts of the bike take up to much weight too
