Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - SF Drunken Ride

So, I missed to Saturday morning SF ride because I went to El Rio on Friday night and was hungover Saturday morning, and it seems some other people had the same problem. So I was thinking why not do a nightime drunken ride. We could start at Pop's on Saturday night to get $1 PBRs and then move on from there. Anyone interested?

Why not do it on friday night? I'm in either way as long as the time is right. Wife may not let me out before 10pm....

There is an established weekly ride in Cleveland for drunken bikers.
Wednsday night Mayhem rides start at 9pm in downtown....plenty of cheap beer and fixed gears.

The married with children representatives, i.e. me, find it difficult to do drunken, night rides. HOWEVER, I just got permission to ride on Saturday night. Time to break out the ole flask I think.

wow, up here if the cops show up its "driving under the influence", they don't give a damn if you're only on a bike....and the DUI consequences are pretty freaking bad here. you guys are lucky, more power to you! :)

you still have to be discreet...i mean they can grab you up here as well...which is why you can simply walk your bike if you get that "you looked f^%ked up look from the folks in blue" i have had to do this on a couple of times late night leaving the bar where i work....walk around the corner...cut up an alley...through a cut...and bam...its on again....


that being said....where are we meeting up for this run tonight....looks like i see the sun burning through the fog....well kind of...

Edit: I live pretty close to the Powell BART station too, so we can meet any tunnel people near there if we need to.

If adding one more (new tag along) person helps push things closer to a go, i'm in. I've been swamped with work, meant to meet up with karmical at Nickies the past two weeks thinking that would probably end in a ride of some sort, maybe thonight...

so, if I can ride from the TL to Sausalito and back, 22 miles round trip (it was at the north end of Sausalito), rode the whole thing, no walking uphill, I can probably keep up, no?

Okay, i thought this was a midnight riders drunken pub crawl. I'm in if this is the case, but if you guys plan on making me cry my way up huge hills and do a longe ride on my fixie while gripping onto a flask with one hand, i'd rather stay in the mission and drink the night away riding around on my bike locally. who is into what?

I think we're going to do an easy pub crawl. Only hills will be the ones that we absolutely have to in order to get to the next bar...

f-ing hell. I was going to ride, scratch that now. I just got dumped over by a f-ing idiot on valencia. His excuse -> uh, I didn't see you man. What the F???? I have a bright orange frame and was wearing the most fl green longsleeve you could have, and he just passed me one sec before, didn't even fully pass me, just cut into the bike lane to get into a CLOSED unlit parking lot. Hit my leg on a tree after jumping the curb, limped it home. The only reedeming factor, when he said he didn't see me I got so mad I pummeled the hood, dented that **** for sure, shoulda hit a window, would have broken that sh**. I had a gaggle of pedestrians ready to back me up too, they were yelling at dude for me, saw the whole thing.

So, no ride tonight. I'm in for a week night or next sat. keep me posted. Have a good ride fellas (ladies?).

i saw this before i rode out to meet up with the rest...kind of passed on that you had a bit of a mishap...hope there is not too much discomfort...

lets see...where to begin here..... so i was not going to go but ended up seeing terror in pink on the train...aka bart.......although she thought i was some freak...i thought about that all the way home and couldn't stop laughing and smiling all the way home...when i started looking at the pictures all they are for the most part is of d and the repair stops we had to make...

Going over potrero hill to get Henry to the 22nd street CalTrain station was a pretty intense way to end a drunken ride.

There was something up with that bartender at the Crow Bar, she carded me three times, gave Darian's change to someone else, and kept going to the bathroom every 5 minutes. Good times...

Oh yeah, how can I forget the mad dash to the train. At midnight, run up three STEEP blocks with bike and bag, ride back down the other side madly looking for the station (as I'd never been to that station before) and run down the stairs to the platform as the train comes into view about 200 yards away. That was close since it was the last train of the night.

sorry i never caught up with you guys later in the night, but it was fun while it lasted. Hey Blast you should check out the night owl bus. It comes every 15 minutes after the hour and you can catch it at 1st and mission.

I posted this tread and I missed it. Damn! I can only check the forums on weekdays (at work) and there didn't seem to be much interest on Friday. I was looking for a new housemate all Saturday anway. If anyone wants to do it again next weekend, pm me or post on the forums.

Phew, that's a relif. I was getting sick of the slim pickings in my frame size. Now I can just shop the hipster way I was born into, vintage brand name super retro, something to go with my haircut. And because it's smaller it'll fit in the bar with me, won't I be the coolest. :rolleyes:
