I'm thinking of replacing my 30-year-old Dia-Compe thumbies on my mid-80's mountain bike (the original shifters) with these:

along with these: http://www.worldcycle.co.jp/item/54754.html

I have a six-speed freewheel, which, from what I've read, will be no problem for these shifters.

My question is in the title: Do these shifters have enough throw for triple chainrings? In descriptions of these shifters, I never see any mention of compatibility with a triple.

The RD is a NOS Deore XT circa 1987-1990 or so. The FD is a newer Deore.

Here's the same shifter in English: Dia-Compe ENE Down Tube Shifters - Shifters & Derailleurs - Components (http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/components/shifting-freewheels-cassettes/dia-compe-ene-w-dt-shifters.html)

Prolly cause every DT lever can shift a triple, AFAIK.

Thanks Kimmo, that's what I expected, just wanted to be sure. Newbie here.

The main reason other types of shifter are double or triple specific, is they're pretty much all indexed.

Campy Ergos being the glorious exception. I'd love to transplant the microratchet from a left to replace the indexing in a right... prolly need an even finer ratchet though...
