Foo - “Enhance!”

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

NASA should be contracting with the movie industry for that technology. Who needs good optics when a little computing power can extrapolate gold from lead...so to speak..

So is most of TV nowadays just Law and Order and CSI spinoffs, interspersed with reality TV?

Oh, captain Janeway, how far have you fallen.
SO.... if I take a picture of a dangle, and said dangle is wet with bodily fluids that reflect light, you can enhance the picture of the dangle and see who the date was... amazing.

They should pick a better phrase, like...
jazz up the worbs (http://clientsfromhell.net/post/7940478695/jazz-up-the-worbs)

All they need is a picture of the person from space... the top of their head. Not even the dangle.

Naw, it's easier to use the DNA from the 'wet bodily fluids' and just grow a clone.

Then you can convict the clone and send him/her to jail! Case closed!

Wouldn't it be quicker to just convict Ruben of whatever the crime was and get it over with?

That's OLD technology! Motion Pictures first invented the infinite blow up for the movie "Blow Up" in 1966. It was also used in Blade Runner.

But Blade Runner is in the future so it is fair game right?

I sold commercial video surveillance systems for many years. All my customers seemed to watch CSI: BFE. Spent many happy hours on the phone explaining there was no enhance button, no enhance feature, and one camera will not let you see everything that happens in a parking lot the size of Walmart's. And the competitor's system can't do this stuff either. High-end digital systems using megapixel cameras can do lot, but we can't read the newspaper reflected off the eyeball of the parakeet in the background of the crime scene. The cheap screws wouldn't pay for such a system anyway when "I can buy the same thing off the internet for $200.00".
The human vision system is amazing. We have an enhance feature. It's called the brain. It fills in the image according to what we believe should be there.

this thread is too funny, I can't even drink my coffee. I love the 'science' detectives, the mass spectrometers that don't need any mass to do the full, FULL range tests. the 'trek' PC's where pressing 2 keys on the keyboard correlates the entire episode's data into one easy to read and understand graphic. the DNA test done on the barnacle covered boat hull that was able to discern two different people's DNA was my fav, in that show the victim was able to scratch his 'bones' while trying to get back onto the boat, while the killer who cut her finger on a glass got a few drops on the victim as he went overboard, overboard should be the name of the show.
but the enhance feature always rules!
good ol' fashion police work, that's how you solve crimes.
