so i got hit by a car a while back on my 1980's ish raleigh and the forks have been bent back. I intend on replacing them but i'm having trouble getting them off in the first place. any tips?

You need to buy a headset wrench for one thing.. 32mm open end 1/8" thick.

some older headsets used unique tools ..

Assuming that the fork is steel, which is probable given its age, if the metal is not buckled or cracked it can likely be made serviceable again. An older bike shop would probably have the tooling needed.

after the accident i went to the nearest bike shop to see how bad the damage was, and they said that it needed to be replaced unfortunately.
