Greetings;
A customer, who I suspect has seen the previews of "Premium Rush" wants us to build, in his words: 'A cool, retro, urban attack bike'.
I would appreciate some input from you Guru's, but I was thinking along these lines: Soma 'Stanyan' frame w/ flat bars, sidepulls, Shimano 105 single ring crank, XT 36 hole hubs, DT Champion spokes, Mavic 'Open Sport' 36 hole rims, Conti 28mm. tires, 11-28 cassette, Sram chain, inexpensive pedals w/ clips and straps, Brooks Pro saddle and Park full frame pump. The customer weighs 200lbs. and 6'4" tall. Thanks for your input.

Interesting spec, doesn't really follow the courier image implied by the film, as you need single speed to look similar, and fixed to be true to it.

For the spec, those wheels will be heavy, XT hubs nice as they are, are on the weighty side.

The customer is heavy, strong and powerful, believe me he is hard on wheels, he needs strong 36 spoke wheels, I even thought about tying and soldering the rear wheel spokes, and he wants the courier look but needs gears as his summer home is Pittsburg, Pa. He also likes the lugged/retro look and the Soma is hard to beat for the money; quality build with great finish. Thanks for your input.

Yeah, I don't see anything particularly "retro" in the Premium Rush previews except for the old steel frames.

If you want a bulletproof rear wheel, consider using a 7-speed hub with 130mm spacing for less dish (extra spacers on the left side).

An urban assault bike should, in my view
be a singlespeed, not too high gear (42:17 or even lower)
fat but still nicely rolling tires
simple MTB frame, steel
(this will be the most controversial point, but IMHO, for an urban assault bike, it's essential) strong platform pedals

On a (only slightly) less serious note, if your friend has a sense of humor, this is the urban assault bike I would recommend. Bombproof and yet stylish.

Here's another bike I love dearly, and would ride the hell out of. It's definitely retro, and you can't deny the urban assault credentials of it!

Ah yes, it also sports the best kind of brakes bicycles have ever seen: drum brake (on the rear wheel).
