Bicycle Mechanics - Rear Hub needed for Commencal mini dh

Hi all, Im new to the forum, I own a 2007 Supreme mini dh from new. Ive been away for a while without my bike so now that Im home, I need to fix it up again. The only mod to the drivetrain is an e13 chain device which is running perfect. The problem I am having is the commencal rear hub, it seems to be skipping at the same amount of revolutions of the wheel constantly, Im a heavy rider its always been used on downdhill and as I was told they are pretty terrible I want to replace it. The hub is commencal and the rim is a Sun rim sl1. The wheel is currently quick release but I have no problem changing to bolt through.

I dont really want to spend the earth but was looking at either a shimano saint or Hope pro 2 hub. My problem is I dont have a clue where to start. I know there are widths of hubs, I think this one is 135mm? I assume this is dictated by the width of the swingarm flanges but even then if measured from the wrong point.... I also see that some hubs are of different shapes with flanges which protrue alot from the main body of the hub and some which are pretty low profile. Anyways Im juts wanting someone to point me in the right direction as to which hub will fit, what size the hub has to be etc. I had also been looking at complete wheels on ebay like:

but I am unsure of how to figure out if it will fit or not. I know im clueless on this so im expcecting smart answers but Ive given all the info my little head can muster. Below is a pic of the hub, any help appreciated guys and gals, thanks.

You can use any disc brake rear hub. Given the way costs work out, you're better off price wise buying a complete rear wheel from a decent source, than just the hub then a rebuild of your rim and spokes onto it.

There's a vast number of choices, so it boils down to a question of price/quality.

BTW- before spending serious dough on a new wheel, have someone check your hub. Many of these kinds of skipping issues are easily fixed fairly simply and at very little cost. Also be sure the skipping is in the hub, and not chain/cassette or otherwise drivetrain related. It would be a same if you spent $100+ on a new rear wheel only to find that your cassette had a bent tooth.

If you are looking at a hub, you would need to budget for new spokes as well as the hub, and the build if you don't know how/ can't do it yourself. For the cost of a new Hope Pro II and spokes and build, you can get a rear Hope Hoop Pro II Evo wheel, which is a better deal at around £190. This is AM rather than DH specific, but DH specific cost a lot

For a DH specific rear wheel, you need to look at £200 minimum, and upto £1000 for a high end rear.

If wanting 2nd hand, would look at Singletrackworld or Pinkbike

Thanks very much for the help lads, I will have a go at the hub and see what happens, they are some cheap wheels on that website, not sure if the deore hub would be up to my terrible riding though,seen the hope hoops but wasnt sure if they would fit etc, so will look at them again. Im thinking of converting to a rear axle and get rid of the qr setup, thanks again guys for the info, very much appreciated
