General Cycling Discussion - Opinions about upgrading 7x3 to 9x3

Hello,
I'm new to road cycling. I recently got off road bike for reasonable price and now I'm thinking to upgrade it.
I would like to hear some opinions about upgrading from 7x3 to 9x3 (which parts to save, or buy completely new groupset)

Crankset: Campagnolo Champ triple
Hubs: Shimano FH-2200 (7/8/9 spd) with 7 speed Shimano cassette
Shifters: Shimano RSX
Rear derailleur: Campagnolo Mirage 9 speed
Front derailleur: Shimano 105

What would you do?
(Found out that Shiftmate 3 would be useful If I wanted to have 9 spd Shimano cassette with 9 speed Campagnolo shifters)

If I understood right, easiest way for upgrading (just 9 spd Shimano cassette and 9 speed shifters) isn't possible, it would require other hubs?

I thought hubs were 8/9/10...not 7/8/9

Better make sure your bike rear frame will handle the 8/9/10 speed spacing if going up from 7.

Yes, with a seven speed we could be talking a freewheel and less than 130 spacing. But it looked like he said he had a 9 speed derailleur.

Don't ask me, I love 7-speed. :D

With spacer I guess.

And bike is running with that setup at the moment (9 spd derailleur and 7 spd cassette)

Consider what gear ratios you use most.. count teeth..

then decide what ratios you lack, .. , resolve that ..

"speeds" is different than ratios ..

add more 'speeds' , and many added ratios overlap to redundancy.

That's a really weird mix of parts. Sounds like somebody was clearing out their parts bin.
The minimum would be to replace the rear shifter, cassette, and chain.
Mountain front derailleurs do not pull the same amount of cable as road derailleurs like the 105, so if you bought both shifters you would need a new front derailleur unless you buy a shifter pair specifically made for flat bar road bikes.
If you could find a deal on a complete drivetrain including the crankset, that would be optimal. What's the gearing on that crankset? A standard mountain triple is 22/32/44.

After researching I think so too, it's quite weird setup. (The frame is Bianchi Reparto Corsa 2005 anniversary edition with carbon fork)
Crankset is 30/42/52 (Campagnolo Champ triple). I was thinking of new shifters, cassette and chains from Shimano (Tiagra or 105).
I guess that crankset is ok with Shimano?
