7 guitars. Compared to some of these maniacs, that's nothing. There's really only one more I'd like to get, and in the end I may wind up selling one of these. I don't really want more than this. I hate Teles, Gretches, mini-humbuckers and just about everything else. What you see is what I like. I've been doing this long enough to know that.
There are things about every guitar I don't like, but my refusal to use pedals necessitates a 'one for each sound' sort of set up.

Quite a bit lately. If I stop playing this much, I'd sell most of these, I've gone from 10 guitars to 2 before. I'm into it these days. But the nice thing about high end guitars is that if you buy them right you get 90% of your money back. I mostly buy them right.

You think? LP guys are like me, they like singlecut guitars. Singlecuts are always ballsier than doublecuts. That PRS MEQ (the gray doublecut) kicks ass however.

Hell, if we can actually get this little band thing off the ground, I'd play a lot more and I'd get a lot better. That is the plan. Rehearsal again tonight.

If we add those, nose harps, jaw harp, etc. we break well above 30. I was referring specifically to strings.

Speaking of P90 guitars, I was playing that cheap Agile (pictured above). The guitar screams. I A-B'd that $500 guitar with a $3000 Gibson Historic Les Paul with P90's and I really preferred the cheap Agile. Those are really amazing guitars for the money, they make a wide range of guitars from LP style to Fender style, they range from $150-$1000, most of their good guitars are $500 or less.

I bought it for $2650 slightly used. I'm confident that if I listed it on eBay with a $1 opening bid and no reserve it would get bid up into the $3K range. The dealers get $4K+ for them new. I'd like to buy one with a tremelo bridge, but they are awful pricey brand new. Best guitar I've ever owned in many respects. Killer tone, ergonomics, looks. AMAZING player, great for lead guitar.
You kind of have an LP fetish.
Some guys with a bunch of guitars like to have 'one of everything.'
I'm more in line with Pcad here; I went through a lot of tone-hunting and once I found what worked for me, I bought a bunch of very similar things. For me it was the mahogany wood and a glued-in neck that counted most in my final decision, along with various neck preferences. I played Teles for years but I wouldn't want one now.
Having said all that, I too have 8 now and that's 7-8 more than I need at the moment...too busy to play, although as fall sets in and I'm off the bike more that may change. Last year I was injured and off the bike for months, so I was playing every day for the first time in ages. That was fun. But if I could sell them without taking a bath I would in a heartbeat.
btw, All nice gtrs Pcad though my eyes keep going back to the Zebras...

Those PRS Modern Eagle guitars are really killer, but they are super pricey. Musicians Friend sells them for $4700. Ouch. You can get them new for low 4's, but man that's a lotta dough for a guitar, even these days. Glad I found mine for that price, had I not grabbed it (I knew it was a great deal) I'd never have had one. The guitar struck me in the store as having killer everything, now that i've played it for six months I love it even more. It's really kind of like a Private Stock PRS, and those guitars are hard to find for less than $6k-$8k. Nicest PRS I've owned. My SC-58 is another killer, bought that used for the right price too.

I'd never even heard of the Agile brand before reading this thread, but just yesterday I was strolling down West 30th Street in Manhattan on the way to a rehearsal and I spotted an Agile similar to yours (humbuckers instead of P90s) in the window of Rogue Music.
I think they wanted $800 for it.

There are some fine products coming out of Korea. Not great, products, but certainly fine ones. I've played a Korean Epiphone Les Paul side by side with a Gibson Les Paul Traditional and in that case there was no comparison. The Epi sounded dead compared to the Gibson. I think with the right amp pairings though, and without direct comparison, they're definitely serviceable guitars.
The biggest issue with them is the finish for me. A good finish is as thin as possible but still smooth. This requires extensive sanding. The cheap alternative to this is to apply a thicker coating of finish with smooths out irregularities without the sanding requirements. What I've seen out of my Korean made guitars (Gretsch Pro Jet, Airline Twin Tone) as a result of this is, runs in finish, unwanted buildup in certain areas, and because there are so many coatings, you'll get things on the surface between coats. This ends up either looking bad, causing a 'bubble' or even a finish pop. Coming from an acoustic guitar background, my instant worry is the effect on tone. A number of factors could contribute, but generally I've found these guitars to be more 'dead' sounding. This is exactly the way I describe acoustics with too much finish. Maybe my suspicions have some merit. Not sure.
They still sound fine (and will sound even better with better caps and pots. Switches are probably the weakest of the electronics, but don't play much into sound), but all mine are slowly starting to look like exactly what I bought them for, beater guitars.
If I buy another Korean made one, it will probably be an Alden Zemaitis clone. Then strip the finish, electronics, and all and re do them. I've always wanted an unnecessarily gaudy guitar.
Another random.... the bigsby (licensed of course) on the airline has actually had chunks of aluminum come out of it. Far too easily. I find that one a bit odd.
With just the slightest change they've got Wild Thing, Twist and Shout and La Bamba. Instantly quadrupling repertoire.
Exponentialized it for you.
One thing I realized over the years - if I had to choose between a great gtr and a crappy amp, or the opposite - I'll take the great amp every time. Obviously, a great gtr and amp would be ideal.
On the assumption that my apartment hasn't burned down while I've been away, this guitar makes my other guitars (two student classicals) gently weep. I've never been able to take a good picture of it, since I'm usually too busy playing it. I tried playing with the levels and colour balance, but it still comes out looking yellower and uglier than it is.

Yeah, the finish on the pricier guitars is superior. But tone? The two Agiles I've owned were both $425 (plus case). The P-90 guitar I held onto, that guitar beat the Gibson Custom Shop $3K guitar in a the important respects to my ears and touch when I A-B'd them a few months back. The humbucker guitar needed new pickups (I installed Gibson Classic 57's), and after that, it was a real killer for a total investment of about $700.
I'm amazed at the value and performance those guitars deliver. I don't care for the burst color or the plasticky finish, but they are great guitars for not a lotta dough.

Yeah, the mid range Korean made stuff is very solid. With the cheap (sub $200) you get what you pay for, but all the $4-600 range stuff I've seen has been pretty decent for the price.
Good choice on the 57's. One of my favorite pickups. I was actually putting a 57's at the neck and burstbucker 3's at the bridge before Gibson started doing it. It's a fantastic pickup combo (IMO) if you get the urge to swap another other guitar's pickups.

I do think that is the proprietary PRS tremelo bridge. Wanted a hum bucker axe with a whammy bar.
PRS guitars are the shiznit.

Unbelievably gorgeously, and it just gets better the more I play it. I bought it for the guitarist that I'd like to be in 20 years' time, though I don't think I'll deserve it even then. The first time I played it, it felt like it had always been mine.

That is not the price Uncle Pcad paid. I've been trading guitars for a long time, I know the bottom line on these guitars, which on this model is over $500 less than the posted price on the website.
Still too much, but I tried to find the right one of these used for months to no avail. They are legendary amongst LP/PRS weenies like me. Fat and versatile tone.
