Maybe this need to go in the Electronics forum but thought will post here first.

Frame = Litespeed C1R for internal Di2/Ui2, BB30
Groupo = Ultegra Di2/Ui2

I think I got everything figured out but have a couple of questions. Internet search did not offer much help. Hoping some of you mechanics might have already worked with Di2 systems.

1. Do I need the anti rattle zip ties? The wires I got did not come with any but I see them in some images online. Since the ultegra cables are smaller than dura ace, maybe there is no need for them?
2. Do I need to cover the BB30 shell cutout that's used to fish the cables and connect? I am worried that the cables might creep into the BB axle area and cause a problem. I was thinking of using duct tape but was not sure if that was the right way to go.

Very excited and cannot wait to get it built up and ride. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Unlike mechanical cables, wire routing is pretty flexible. Feel free to find the best route, and use any method to prevent movement, rattle or chafing according to the specific needs of your bike.

you don't need the anti rattle zip ties but they cut down the rattle obviously. not familiar with the litespeed bb area so cant help there. i am not sure anyone makes a sleeve to go between the bb30 bearings. i guess you could make some out of a soda bottle

Thanks guys. I fished the wires and shook the frame and there is a noise from the down tube area. I think I will have to use zip ties on the BB to shifter controller wire.

You can do some pretty slick stuff with sellotape, electrical tape and poster putty. Should see my new speedo install; not a zip tie in sight.

Is your's internally routed? I believe the design behind the zip tie use in this instance is that you attach it to the wire every 2 inches or so do not cut the extra tie section sticking out. When you guide the wire into the frame it curls up and keeps the wire from bouncing around inside. Everything is out of sight.

Update: For future reference.

1. Did not have to use Zip Ties. I shoved a piece of pipe insulation foam from the headset-fork intersection and fed the wire through that. I was able to do that because the down tube of the Litespeed C1R is huge. So is the head tube intersection. No more rattles.
2. Duct taped the junction box and all the extra length wires in the BB shell area to a piece of pipe insulation foam and carefully compressed it and forced it through the BB shell cutout. Since the piece of foam is larger than the cut out hole nothing should creep into the BB shell area.
