Possibly a dumb question but, I picked up a couple of Gazelle bikes that have Dunlop/Woods valves on them. The tubes are toast, can a Presta valve fit the hole or do o nees a rubber thingy in that valve hole?

As far as I know you dont need anything- but why not just be extra careful and feel the inner side of the hole to make sure there are no sharp edges.

woods valves are great-replace-able
being in europe its industry standard.
But presta valves are great on thin tyre bikes.

Thanks for the reply. I know that when you go from schrader to Presta you need a rubber jobbie that reduces the size of the hole. I thought the woods hole is about the same as a schrader?

woods hole is the same as the "car type" schrader.
never liked schraders...

Woods valve stems are needing schrader sized holes in the rim.
so the grommet of rubber in the hole is a good thing with presta valves

though now P/V tubes like Schwalbe's have a stepped edge ring nut
to center the stem in the larger hole..

though using S/V tubes will do..
