Manufacturer, Retailer, Survey and Consumer Feedback - The ultimate urban cycling GPS

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello all,
We are a group of product design students working on developing a new kind of cycling navigation system for urban space in an attempt to encourage the use of bicycles in cities.
If you could help us a little by filling out this survey (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dERMUzV4YXJvbmJMNEM5T2pfSUI4MFE6MQ) we would be extremely greatful!
it will take you less than 1 minute and is all for a good cause of helping promote urban cycling!
Thanks in advance for your help! :thumb:

this survey assumes that the respondent only has/rides one bike in the city. i'd assume, this does not encompass all riders here or elsewhere. consider changing the survey to accommodate this or having a note to describe only one bicycle.
Sigh. Another one of those lazy, do-our-work-for-us surveys so the students can published ill-founded findings and graduate without real skill or knowledge.
I have yet to see any product put together by a group of design students who have approached these forums actually make it to the marketplace. Much less those students providing any meaningful feedback or progress information on their activities.

The survey could use some work. As stated it assumes that the respondent only owns one bike and that it cost $500 max. Some of the questions are also in need of additional answers such as the question about one-way streets (I sometimes ignore the do-not enter signs).
All that said....Garmin already makes a cycle GPS device that works in the "urban space." Not to mention that if you have a smart phone you are covered as well.

The age group its targeted at seems to be young and small.
Many of the choices lack it categories so I did not complete it for you as many choice were missing for me and to answer with the limited choices would not represent my use of cycling.
Also most of your questions seem to already have been targeted so I have no idea of were you plan on taking you development of a navigation system to.
Add the needed options in your questions and I may fill it out for you and their are to many for me to help it is your project so do some research and get back.
Good Luck!
