We would like to get some frame bags (1 for stoker, possibly 1 for captain) that fit in the open space under the top tube. Our frame is open with no laterial bars. I have seen these before but have never had the opportunity to talk to the people using them to find out what brand they are. Some are kind of angular shaped. One model is the Relevate Tangle that is sold by Adventure cycling, but we have seen others that might actually work better. Do any of you use these, and have photos or brand names I can search for? I see tandems east has a couple, but honestly I like websites that show you all of the specs (dimensions, in this case) and give you the opportunity to order online.

We use the Tandems East wedge shaped stoker bag on our open frame Calfee. It works great, stoker Karen loves it. Dimensions are approximately 11.5" long, 2.5" thick, 3.5" high on the short end, and 6.5" high on the long end. We got the wedge shaped one because of the water bottle mounted on the rear of the captain's seat tube underneath the bag. No problem with ordering on the phone - Mel is great to deal with.

I think I will now refer to my stoker as stoker Jackie.

"keep pedaling back there stoker Jackie!"

Another option for custom frame bags is Porcelain Rocket (http://www.porcelainrocket.com/) - he recently built us some bags that fit perfectly in our Co-Motion Speedster's frame.

We use the Terracycle Fastback (http://www.t-cycle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=T&Category_Code=FB_FrameBag) framebags on our Speedster. Fastback bags have a great reputation amongst us bent riders but also work great on standard bikes and tandems.

And for the bargain hunters there is the Nashbar Frame Pack Bag (http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product_10053_10052_167563_-1___202602) for around $10. We have one. Works great.

has anyone made their own custom bag? my wife is pretty handy with a sewing machine and we have been thinking of making one for a tour we want to do on our triple. our open frame trident periscope offers a HUGE area for a big bag. jpak's bags look great and aren't too spendy, but i think we could do something simple for less. anyone know a good source for ballistic nylon/cordura?

I have that same bag - can't be beat for $10 and I have it on the lateral tube behind the captains seat tube.

I bought the Bushwhacker Tahoe Black - Bike Crossbar Bag from Amazon (13.95) but it didn't fit in open space in front of our Mocha because of the bottle cages, so with the help of a little Velcro, we got it to fit under the stokers top tube and attach to the pilot's seat tube. It is long enough to carry our bike pump, our Click-Stand and some other tools.
