16" BMX Racers?

Considering a 16" bike for a 4 year old to race BMX. Is this a mistake? He's too short for a mini and a micro isn't gonna last long. He's currently riding a 12" hotrock at the track and having a blast but needs something more stable.
Opinions?

redline pitboss is best 16 ive seen, my boy has haro 16 he is 7 and still growing ito it. he has sx race bike to race. pitboss is lighter, shorter nice bike. mini race bike will last till hes 7-8, then just sell sell it or have more children... result........

I actually just picked up a used one and it seems pretty light. It's still a little big for him but he'll certainly be riding it before he can handle a mini.
