Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - New to the bike game

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Im looking to purchase my first fixed gear bike, not sure where to start. I'm just looking to ride, not onto doing tricks but would like to mess around some on it. Not sure what the difference between track and fgfs bikes are and which is a better option for me. Not looking to spend awhole lot of money but willing to spend in the ballpark of 400 ish $$. Any suggestions??

In before Kilo TT.

Dang, where to start?
Do you know how to ride a bike? If not, we need to get you started on that.
I mean I've ridin bikes before but not seriously. Mainly going to ride for casual fun but want to have a cool @ss bike at the same time.
In that case, Kilo TT. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that is a cool @ss bike. And it's good for casual fun. Win win!

They're polar opposites.
You probably want to start a thread in the FGFS sub.
Ever heard of Avicii? Some guy work with told me about them?

Those bikes are wayyyyyyy overpriced and they are out of the OP's budget. Get a Kilo TT or WT and enjoy riding!

Ha - I see what you did there.
But to the OP, he and the others are right. The Kilo TT is a good bike, and a good platform to upgrade from if you so choose to.

If you're up for learning a little mechanics, building up fixies/single speeds is really fun and easy with help choosing parts and frame. I'm sure forum members would be happy to help you out with that. I've helped friends build bikes and they always find it a rewarding experience, especially since they're able to fix and repair down the road. As mentioned above, Kilo TT is an awesome place to start. Any recently made track frame should be broadly compatible and sturdy enough for some tricks.

I wouldn't say they're overpriced. Maybe a little bit, but not as bad as some other companies do it. Did you look at the list of specs for that thing? Mostly worth the money.

i got a windsor hour recently for $279 it came with 1 brake and a fixed gear but i threw a freewheel, fisiks seat, and two continental ultra sport tires and i must say she is very quick! it could use a new crank though. overall im very satisfied.

you need a front brake.
and some pedal uniformity. i've never seen anyone rock the stock one on the left without clips/straps, that can't be comfortable at all
