Northeast Rides and Events - Bicycling Magazine's 'Fall Classic'

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Is anybody else in the Lehigh Valley considering doing the Fall Classic by Bicycling magazine at the Velodrome on Oct 7th? Here is the Link http://www.bicycling.com/fallclassic
It seems pretty decent, but I wasn't sure about the Gran Fondo start being that everything else is a standard touring start. If anyone on here is gonna do, drop me a note. Pretty sure there are King/Queen of the Mountain prizes.

So, any feedback on the ride? I had thought about doing it, but I had to work on Sunday. I did the Sea Gull Century in Salisbury, MD, on Saturday instead, and I probably got the better deal in terms of the weather!

I am wondering the same still. Unfortunately they scheduled the ride on the same day as 3 other MAJOR events in this area for cycling. It was very stupid to have to choose between them all. Plus it was all of 40 degrees at 730 in the morning.

Where do you ride out of normally? Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia or Bucks regions?

A mix of Montgomery County (where I live) and Bucks County (where I grew up).

I went..it was far colder than 40 degrees at the ride start.Unsure it ever hit 40 all day. I dare say half the average riders opted for the shortest route available and then the coffee shop.
