Doc says in the near future I'm going to have to have my shoulder replaced.
Anyone gone through this before?
What am I in for?
How long is the recovery?
How badly does it hurt.

I'm not so sure I like slowly becoming a cyborg.

I hope things will work out. Body parts replacement is a scary business.

Sorry to hear that...
I pray that if it really is necessary, that it goes smoothly and you recover completely.

Just don't let them pump you full of nanobots. Also, are your doctors white skinned with all sorts of robot attachments and laser pointers near their eyes? If so, be very afraid.

My mom had the same surgery long before I was born. She had a big scar but as far as I know can use her arm just fine. She had to have it done because it was so bad that she even dislocated it turning a doorknob one day... Caused by a childhood injury I believe. I'll ask her what the recovery is like, though it may be a completely different surgery nowadays.

I thought you were looking for sympathy and support.

Time to move to the 50+ forum. You'll get advice and both of the above there.

You are going to get a second opinion, right? Or is this a specialist that your primary physician sent you to?

Ongoing arthritis issues from a past MVA.
Primary physician is sending me to the orthopedic surgeon. Every time I've been sent to a surgeon I always wakeup hungover and with knife wounds.

My ex used to be a coroner. I could contact her and see what she can dig up.
