Hi all,
In a month or so I'll be in Amsterdam, then a few days later in Muenster. We've tentatively planned a 2-3 day cycle tour around the Amsterdam area, then a train - but maybe we could ride all the way (it's around 250km). Anyone know of any bike hire companies that can do a one way trip? We did something like this once before in France (with BikeBus) - but it's a bit daunting with the sheer number of bike hire companies in Amsterdam. We'd need to hire the full set: bikes, panniers, etc.

Thanks for any tips.

You can Rent a bike in AMS. then same in the next place..

Rental / hire companies want their inventory back, they will keep any deposit,
or bill your credit card if you fail to return it.

or get a Pretty cheap used bike and just abandon it when you are done.

This if you think you want to go all the way to Muenster.

But be aware, those types of bikes available in Amsterdam will not be anything like the MTBs or road bikes or tourers in Australia. They will be "sit up and beg" style bikes with virtually a pedal-forward format. Even the trekking bikes based on MTBs or hybrids have high handlebars.

Also be aware that you might not find the centre of Amsterdam to be the cycling nirvana some lead us to believe. It's a city of bike ghettos, and the cycling infrastructure is at its limits in handing the concentrations of riders. You'll need your wits about you all the time. Things get better on the outskirts, of course, as you get on to the designated LF routes.
