Track Cycling: Velodrome Racing and Training Area - My 2005 New Year Resolution...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The Track Cycling Forum is going to be the shi*. I'm tired of talking about conversions and fixies. Track bikes rule! No drilled brakes, bottle mounts, saddle bags, non-track end dropouts, fender eyelets, or frame pumps allowed!!!
Track bikes only.
Yea, but your going "nowhere" dude.

So is the bike that I ride on the track with brake holes on the front and rear now not a track bike? :(
Well thanks A LOT ;)

Im all about it. No more conversions or semi-track bikes for me either. The gitane came in the mail yesterday. Im just waiting on my phil bb rings and my rear hub and cog. Then its on.

Funny how all that doesn't stop you from having fenders on your track bike.
And yes, I know they are SKS raceblades and you dont have eyelets.
Although I seem to remember you trash-talking fenders once before as well... ah yes there it is.
How about a nice selection of your favorite pet peeves???
1. fixies w/ full fenders
...
Last time I saw your ride outside Filter, it was looking great, although it seems practicality may be winning the fight :D

I feel your pain but the part with the brake hole... I don't ride with brakes and haven't done it since the mid 80s. I have my keirin frames with holes in the fork crown and I don't think I am going to fill them. I don't think it is going to make me less of a track rider or my bike less of a track bike.
I owed over 25 track bikes and own over 6 now and counting.
You need to rethink what you want on the forums..

so wait do you even ride on the track? or have you ever?
I'm not attacking you, I'm just curious I mean I only just started so that doesn't really make me a track rider just yet. I just think it would make this attempt to further alienate yourself from the rest of the cycling comunity a little funnier.

yeah ive ridden track. and i will this year, too.
but you guys are missin' half the crap here. im tired of hearing and reading about converting this and converting that, and will this adapter make my chainline work like this and like that, and will these cheapo hubs last two weeks in the winter, or will this or that be better... so, in an effort to not hear about it, ill be over here, in the track cycling forum, makin' it happen.

you know the funny part is that i think this is the most action i've seen the track forum get since i've been here.
back to the point. . . you really don't need to exclude those of us who ride track with eyelets just because that's not a "real" track bike. i understand the rest of your reasoning but that's just going a little overboard. Maybe i just feel left out but still a lot of the rental bikes at the local velo have brake holes. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaking of knowing you, I was going to ask you how the track bike film was going while I was sitting across from you and Matt at Filter a couple weeks ago, but didn't get a chance. Getting some winter footage, editing, or just general haitus?

when i got my de bernardi i was pretty distraught over the idea of it being drilled...
i still am.
i should have tried to find a used benotto or something of the like, with a flat crown and no drillings, before i went with the de bernardi :(.
