Hi, everyone ... I've lurked for several years and posted a few times. Thought I'd finally introduce myself.
I've ridden my whole life, BMX then Mtn Biking segued to urban and Road biking. In the winter of 1999-2000, I worked as a bike messenger in Beantown. That was a crazy mess. The big dig was changing routes daily.
Got hit by a Taxi and decided to call it quits after about four months (December - April)... then took a bit of a hiatus ... and got back into biking about three years ago.
Here are some photos of what's in the current stable. I commute year-round and finally had to take the battery out of my car because it kept draining while sitting (particularly during the colder months.)
I do all my own wrenching, now, have a mini shop in the basement but lack a few tools yet. The Raleigh Grand Prix pictured here is a 1975 Nottingham, and is my daily commuter, the first bike I built from the frame up. The only thing I paid for was the chain, all other parts are from other bikes, old bikes, trades, somehow accumulated, etc.
I love that there is such a great community online for biking and look forward to contributing to threads.
Best,
Phil
