Hi, new to this forum (and the world of classic bikes) and was wondering if you could help identify a frame for me. I have cruised this site and the internet at large and have not found anything that remotely looks like it in the Bianchi world.

Color: Electric Blue

Bianchi serial:
6.9. 2345 (bottom bracket)
alt serial: 9D(0?)7688 at handle bar post intersection

sticker at nearest to bottom bracket at seat post intersection:
Manufactured by F.I.V. Bianchi Italy
Month May, Year 1979
Type 00.7.3
Serial number located under bottom bracket

"Bianchi" stamped on both front forks in gold
"B" in silver circle stamped in nearest seat post to rear tire intersection, both sides
"Bianchi" stamped on both tire drop outs (front and back, both sides)

Front sticker: "Piaggio" logo with "Vespa" beneath

Sticker under seat post: Gold with Red and Blue letters (can't make them out)

Outside of the Manufactured by sticker, no other Bianchi stickers.

Any help/input you can provide would be much appreciated.

You have a Rekord model. The 00.7.3 number would dictate the parts group, if you can find a 1979 catalog to look it up in. There was usually at least two or three Rekord models built around the same frame, but different parts group.

There used to be a 1978 catalog online somewhere but I cannot find it now. That may have the same numbers to check so worth searching for it.

The kid grew about 5 inches this summer and instead of selling his currently undersized Trek racing bike he went to the local bike project, found this particular frame and is planning on moving his components over (minus the bottom bracket which we have to find/order). Not sure it was the best deal value-wise but he's going to get hands on experience moving everything over which is priceless. The frame is sturdy that is for sure - and from the parental perspective, its not how fast he gets there its that he gets there in one piece.

Found it odd that it had Bianchi stamping all over it but had no Bianchi stickers (save for the "manufactured by"), but it looks like the years 78-81 were transitional ones and with marketing efforts all over the place. Fun to research.

Thanks again for the help and encouragement!
