I've got a 46/16 gear ratio ratio right now and I want to make it a bit higher. I'd go with a 15T or 14T rear sprocket but I want to know how drastically that'll affect the chain tension. Input?

each tooth difference means the axle will need to move 1/8" back or forward:

You set chain tension. Its not determined by your ratio.

If you have vertical dropouts, you're boned. Otherwise, no probalo.
