I've been riding, off and on, since I saved up and bought a J.C. Higgins from Sears & Roebuck for $35.00 in about 1949. More recently (about 1974 to 1999) I rode a Centurion road bike to and from work (taught at local college) from my home a few miles out of town in the woods (didn't do much winter riding). Did a lot of running (some marathons, from about 1976 to about 1984, when my knees started to go on me). Bought a Raleigh M-80 used in early 90s and took to riding the logging trails around Kalispell, Montana), with an occasional sojourn on some great single-tracks around here. Nothing extreme (or Xtreme). Recently sold the mountain bike and bought a Torker hybrid, which I like, so far.
Almost forgot to add. On Aug 7, my wife and I and a fiddler friend played music for the Bicycle Rides Northwest excursion in Kalispell, Montana, on the (I think) 4th or 5th day of their trip. Great bunch of people -- made me want to go on a long camp-and-pedal road jaunt. Might even do it one of these days.
