Got Hugo Kobelt bike, does anyone know something on them?

Frame - shimano drop., tubing? tange? seatpost 26.8

Brakes - dura ace

Crank and bb - sr apex and tange

R.d. - shimano titlist

F.d. - shimano 50

Handlebar, stem , seatpost - all SR

Wheels - shimano hubs( don t know which model? ) mavic record du monde rims

Saddle - Arius gran carrera special

Pedals - mks quill-2k

true, it's similar, but not exactly the same tab nor in the same place as Allegro did it.
You could also check with Craig Griffith in SLO, CA who has a website devoted to Swiss bikes. but Kobelt is not one of the marques he features.

Tubing? definitely Reynolds forkblade dimensions in that fork. Measure the ODs and tell us what the 3 mains are...the seat post size of 26.8 could mean JP tubing (Tange or Ishiwata), but I'm not so sure...what BB threading?

It seems that this is 3 star model (mid level) so you are probaly right about tubing but i will mesaure OD ( outer diamete if i got it right ) - http://www.mairag.de/index.html

Very interesting! I was not aware of this line of Swiss bikes, so it's good to read up on a new thing.
The tubing OD you have seems to be non-metric, it should actually be 25.4 TT and 28.6 DT and ST (if it were metric the sizes would be even MMs: 26 and 28).
Therefore the seatpost you have (26.8) is odd for a 531 DB seat tube (27.2 should fit) but might be right for a Columbus SP seat tube, though I'd expect to see 27.0 in that tubing. You might want to take it to a shop and have the seat tube opening checked with a "sizer" just to be sure you have the right size post.
a 26.8 post is more typically seen in Columbus Aelle or some Tange or Ishiwata seat tubes.

I have sent mail to Mairag to find out if they can maybe tell me something about tubing on this bike. Seat post is ok, nothing wrong with it ( period correct, matches rest of bike ). It s a problem when dealing with rare brands like this there is not much info or similar bikes around.


Sterrer has no stamp or markings so there goes that:) back to reading:)

this is a pre 1980 Mairag frame, but we do not have any records of frame numbers any more.

3 star is usually three main tube Crmo pg.

So i quess it can be either columbus or tange?

It sounds like it was intended to be an "entry level" racing bike, based on the tubing info and componentry. Should be a nice ride.

Also, check out Hugo Koblet himself. As the decals on the frame show, he had a brilliant, if somewhat short, career. He won boith the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France in the early 50s. He was known for carrying a comb and a spritzer of cologne in his pockets so that he could freshen up before winning. His nickname was "the Pedaler of Charm." He and Ferdi Kubler represent something of a Golden Age for Swiss cycling - Kubler won the TdF either the year before or the year after Koblet (I think it was the year before, but I won't swear to that). Koblet wore out pretty fast after his Tour win. If memory serves, he contracted some sort of illness that sapped his strength and prematurely ended his career.

In any event, your bike is from a long tradition of European brands seeking to trade on the name of a famous and successful racer, a list that includes Bottechia, Cinelli, Anquetil, Basso, Olmo, Dancelli, Moser, Hinault, Lemond, Merckx, and a host of others I can't remember off the top of my head.
