Introductions - Riding in Bama

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello to all on this forum. I've been "seriously" riding for about a year now, usually about 3 times a week for 15 miles or thereabouts. I've never been happier, since I'm in the best shape of my life and I met my girlfriend while taking a ride! :D After reading through some of the topics here today, hopefully I'll be able to absorb some of this knowledge and reduce my naivety about this whole cycling business. I look forward to conversing with you fine folks!!!

Hi. Alabama seems worlds away from here, in Minnesota. I'm sure that you don't have to plow through banks of snow on your bike.
I like your forum name. Does it have anything to do with how you ride?
Welcome Andy in Decatur, AL from Ron in Decatur, GA.
Well, we have a Decatur, Illinois, but I don't live there!
Welcome anyway! ;)
I heard they had good riding in Bama... let us know what's going on out there with the riding scene. :)

Welcome to the forum from Tuscaloosa. Glad to see that there are more AL riders on here than just me and moonshoot. Enjoy the forum, and if you are ever down in T-town bring your bike and drop me a line.

Thanks for the hearty welcome, y'all. I have journeyed over the handlebars a couple of times, which justifies my name I guess...
As far as the riding down here, I love it! The weather makes it very easy to ride all year long, since it never really gets below 20 or so. I used to think I was pretty tough riding in 20 degrees, but after checking out the winter forum I feel considerably less cool, with people talking about frozen water bottles and whatnot...

It doesn't get REALLY cold here either, but I'm still thinking really hard about driving :o on Monday when the morning low is supposed to be 15F (-9C).

Brrrrr, it's chilly up here in DC today, 22F when I left the house. You'd think the gov't would do a better job of clearing the sidewalks through the memorials. Nothing like walking your bike from the Lincoln to the Washington!

Wow, Alabama people!! I'm new to the forum also, from Birmingham. High tomorrow is supposed to be 57ish with rain late in the day, so I'm hoping for a long, pleasant ride n the morning. Nice to meet you all.
Looks like Alabama folks are popping out of the woodwork. :)
Welcome to all of you.
Where did all you Alabama people go? Any singlespeeders in Alabama? Fixed gear?
