I just saw a posting in the lunchroom for a benefit for a family who lost every thing in a house fire earlier this year. My wife works with the wife. When the fire occurred their ins company put them up in a hotel and then a rental house. Gave the money for new clothes and vehicles. They are rebuilding the house with upgrades, it's now a really nice 2 story log cabin. Benefit? WTF?

Don't get me started! And no you are not.

If all that has been done, then no benefit needed. If the deductible, hotel expenses, eating out, buying clothes in the immediate short term was draining them, then a benefit to see them through that is not out of the question.

Burn their new house down. That will learn them.

Wow, I'd see that as someone trying to get a little something for nothing.
