kids 1st day of school today ... Soph & Jr in HS now and I remember their 1st days of kindergarten and preschool like it was yesterday. Mom still takes their picture ... :-)

She's still getting used to us. She seems bored right now and I think she may be a little homesick. It's a bit strange for me, I don't really like the interruption of my usual routine. I'm a bit antisocial so it's quite a challenge for me. My son thinks she is great.

You guys should take her on a bike ride as soon as possible. When I first moved to Germany, my German was pretty lousy and it was frustrating trying to communicate even though they spoke pretty damn good Ingrish. My host brother and I would go on pretty long rides and it would break the tension and I actually learned alot of new words. Also, my host mother would take me to the Market to help me learn more words for the food I liked. To this day I still call bread, 'Brot' in my mind when I'm shopping, along with alot of other words for foods. I still capitalize words when I shouldn't and misspell English words in German. Those exercises really helped me out.

we're getting an exchange student in october but just for a week, then my daighter goes to israel in Frebruary. I think having such an exchange for a whole school year would be great

My daughter just started high school last week. Hard to believe how fast they grow.

We're trying to talk my old boss into canceling her first day of her first college class (she has three classes to teach that day) so she can watch her baby get on the bus for kindergarten. Old boss is feeling guilty about doing this but hell - this first day of kindergarten will never happen again. And her students WILL get an email that the class has been cancelled (or delayed) before they get there next week. And it won't affect their grade or attendance score either.
