I know there are believers and non-believers in chain cleaning, lubing and how when to do the above.

I also know that using gasoline is both harsh on the chain and dangerous to your health.

I also know that diesel fuel is an alternative to mineral spirits, but what about gasoline with 2 stroke oil mixed in?

I could make a gallon of that stuff and soak the chain or use it in the scrubber to both lube and clean then kill my weeds when I am done with it.

Just a random thought.

I spray mine down with brake cleaner
Wash components down with soap and water
use compressed air to dry all components
lubricate components

DO NOT use gasoline for anything but powering engines. It is toxic to your skin or to breathe, is extremely flammable and generates explosive vapors. Mixing 2-stroke oil with it will not decrease any of those hazards.

Totally avoid gasoline. The vapors are explosive and it smells awful compared to mineral spirits. It doesn't take much oil in mineral spirits to make it very difficult to start on fire. I've tried to burnoff leftover mineral spirits, that had removed a fair amount of oil and it would not light with a match. Diesel is a decent alternative.
