"Banana" George Blair turns 90 years old on January 22, 2005.

He learned to ski at age 40 and started barefoot water skiing at age 46. He still performs at Cypress Gardens in Florida and this year Guiness Book of World Records recognized him as the oldest barefoot water skier.

He learned to snowboard at age 75, drive a race car at age 81, sky dived at age 82, surfboarded at age 83 and rode a bull at age 85.

Happy birthday, "Banana" George!

He is an interesting guy, and I have known of him for many years. My hero, however, is a member of our local club who rides most every day. John Sinibaldi, 91 years old, olympian in '32 & '36, 10 time national champion. We were cruising down our typical course the other morning on our warmup doing 23 mph, and there was John in front of me. An amazing, amazing man. I want to be like him when I grow up.

I'll bet Jack LaLanne an do that, too. (He's about the same age.)

Great inspiration!

He is awesome - I remember when he owned a gym in Oakland, CA in the 50's.

-- Thanks for this inspirational post. Bicycling lends itself well to seniors; it's easier on the joints than running.
