If you want a seat go back to 1817 (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/42/Draisine1817.jpg/422px-Draisine1817.jpg)

Not something you would see me using. I might as well just walk and save the money.

Looks as if it wouldn't be too hard to stick a foot into the rear wheel. :twitchy:

There are a couple of similar contraptions being used locally. One fellow who weighed in at nearly 500 pounds used it to introduce a small amount of movement into his life. He was so heavy that he couldn't even walk. I haven't heard how successful this physical therapy has been, but it was apparent that he was enjoying moving under his own power for the first time in years.

It had no pedals.

And it was invented in response to a dramatic two-year run-up in the price of the primary fuel used for transportation. That is to say, there were consecutive years of poor grain yields so the horses were getting a bit lean. I wonder how expensive gasoline would have to get in order to get significant numbers of Americans to use a bicycle for transportation these days. Maybe we'll find out soon.

Might be fun to jog in... Less stress on the knees and probably a lot of fun on the decents.

Nostalgic? There are people around who are nostalgic for 1817?
