...I'd need to flip a few more bikes to afford it, though!

I wonder how the artist arrived at that price?

The painter is a bit off I would say. I would not want it in my house.

YES. that's exactly my thought. Besides (not to harm the feelings of the artist) it's brutally ugly.

+1 for showing drive side
-1 for no white garage door

So I guess I'm calling it a zero.

Kinda reminds me of a turd with a new type of biopace. I like this one better though:

You probably would get it. Many of the past sales went in the $50-100 range. It looks like the $1,000,000 listing idea is being used to just get an offer.

I wonder how this bike would ride, with a 52 tooth front ring and a 50 tooth rear...

I actually kind of like it...I gravitate towards shapes and lines with my artistic preferences and this is interesting.

ART: in the eye of the beholder. Or so they say.

In this age of government-financed "art" the beholder often is the one left holding the bag...

I can think of worse things to fund than art.

I actually would love to pick up a couple of good bike art pieces, but this painting is a bit too much for me (both financially and taste).

I really like the older French posters; they have such charm and they scream fun.

Back in the day, the "Bike Barb" an alias of one of the Competitive Cycling editorial staff, had an Eisentraut "A" bike in a goofy flesh shade, but the cool part was the barbed wire painting that wrapped lazily around the tubes.

I checked out this artist's other prints on eBay, and he actually has some work that I wouldn't mind having on my wall, though none of the bike-themed stuff grabbed me. The abstract Mr. Spock amuses me :)

Welcome to Foo from C&V.

Any Foosters got a spare $1,000,000 burning a hole in their pocket?

I use to do airbrush illustrations, many many years ago freelance, for race car set box covers for toy companies (Mego, Buddy-L and IDEAL). Its gotten me thinking that maybe I should try and find the time to back into doing illustration work, but in a bicycle vein. Something to think about.....

Looks like the type of picture that hangs in the dentist's office. Kudos to the artist for finding the most depressing shade of brown ever.

One of the first things I noticed were those little striped bands around the seat tube and fork blade. That, combined with the brown color of the frame, is pretty much the perfect representation of a 70s road bike neglected in someone's garage. It's like every road bike I've ever seen at Goodwill (albeit with less straight lines). I kind of like it, even though I'm not really into abstract art.

I like it, its got a nice wiggly motion and all the elements are well balanced. It's whimsical and uses a limited palette very nicely. But it's not quite what would work on my walls. That would do well in a bike shop.
